National Center for Women & Information Technology

The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), based in Boulder, CO, is a comprehensive resource organization dedicated to expanding participation in computing across all educational and professional levels. NCWIT convenes and equips a network of nearly 1,500 change leader organizations nationwide, providing strategic programs and research-backed initiatives that address underrepresentation in technology fields.

NCWIT's service offerings span three critical sectors: K-12 education, higher education, and workforce development. In K-12, the organization inspires students through computing experiences aligned with their interests, featuring real-life role models and community recognition programs. For higher education institutions, NCWIT provides curriculum structuring guidance, recruitment and retention analysis, and progress measurement tools to identify and close participation gaps. Within the corporate workforce, NCWIT delivers research, data analytics, and strategic approaches designed to foster inclusive cultures where all employees can innovate and contribute meaningfully.

Key programs include Aspirations in Computing (AiC), which provides mentorship and encouragement from K-12 through career; Counselors for Computing (C4C), equipping school counselors with computing career information; and BridgeUP STEM, which connects low-income, first-generation students with university mentors and research opportunities. NCWIT also offers TeachEngineering, a free library of standards-aligned K-12 STEM resources, and hosts the annual NCWIT Summit, the nation's largest convening of change leaders in technology workforce development.
