International Foundation for Women's Empowerment

The International Foundation for Women's Empowerment (IFWE) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization based in Fairfax, VA, dedicated to helping women achieve their fullest potential across personal and professional dimensions. Established in March 2019, IFWE operates as a subsidiary of the American Foundation for Educational Excellence and maintains affiliations with the International Society for Educational Excellence and the Center for Excellence in Languages. The organization serves women and men worldwide who are committed to women's empowerment, regardless of nationality, religion, or political affiliation. IFWE delivers comprehensive programming through seven specialized projects designed to address distinct areas of women's development. These include Women's Political Empowerment, Empowerment for Leadership, Women's Personal Empowerment through webinars, Women's Economic and Financial Empowerment focusing on craftspersonship, Women's Corporate and Professional Empowerment, Women's Educational Empowerment including literacy and technology initiatives, and Women's Mentoring programs involving both men and women as mentors. Additionally, IFWE maintains a Job Bank to connect women with employment opportunities. The organization utilizes the Leadership, Organizing and Action pedagogy developed by Harvard Kennedy School of Government Professor Dr. Marshall Ganz to train leadership committees in each country where it operates. IFWE collaborates with UN agencies, local government officials, and international NGOs to expand its reach and impact. Through its International Leadership Committee structure, the Fairfax, VA-based foundation coordinates workshops, action planning, and community chapters to identify challenges women face and implement targeted solutions.
