Founded in 1997 as 85 Broads by Janet Hanson, a pioneering woman in sales management at Goldman Sachs, the organization has evolved into the largest community of women at work. Ellevate provides structured programming designed to support professional women at every career stage, including Ellevate 101 for newcomers seeking to build foundational connections, Roundtable sessions featuring expert speakers addressing real workplace challenges, and Squads—intimate mastermind groups of 6-9 women meeting weekly over 12 weeks to provide mutual support and accountability. The organization operates local chapters throughout New York and beyond, offering in-person networking events that prioritize authentic relationships over transactional business talk.
