Chicago Foundation for Women is a philanthropic organization dedicated to advancing equity and opportunity for women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals across the Chicago, IL region. Since 1985, CFW has developed a comprehensive approach to addressing the systemic issues impacting women and girls in our community, serving as the only organization in the region to take such a holistic perspective. The foundation focuses on four critical areas: expanding economic security, advancing freedom from violence, improving access to health and wellness, and advancing reproductive justice. Chicago Foundation for Women operates as both a funder and fundraiser, strategically investing in grassroots organizations while building a powerful network of socially-minded investors committed to lasting, systemic change. Through leadership development and infrastructure support, CFW has helped emerging organizations thrive, with two-thirds of nonprofits receiving their first institutional funding from CFW still operating successfully a decade later. The foundation amplifies every dollar raised, ensuring community-led organizations receive the strategic, sustained support necessary to drive meaningful impact.
