About Canadian Federation of University Women Mississauga

The Canadian Federation of University Women Mississauga is a dynamic women's organization dedicated to advancing equality and supporting community initiatives across Mississauga, ON and beyond. As part of a national network of nearly 10,000 university-educated women and students across more than 100 clubs throughout Canada, the Mississauga club leverages collective expertise and resources to drive meaningful change. The organization maintains special consultative status at the United Nations and holds representation on the Education Committee of the Canadian Commission to UNESCO, positioning it as a credible voice on women's issues at international levels. The Mississauga chapter provides members with diverse opportunities for engagement through active participation in carefully selected community projects. These initiatives span both local and international scope, addressing critical needs in women's and children's welfare. Members contribute to supporting local shelters for abused women and children, mentor book clubs serving seniors home residents, and fund educational facilities and teacher salaries for girls' schools in developing nations including Ethiopia and Afghanistan. The organization also maintains a commemorative scholarship honoring the memory of female students from the Ecole Polytechnique tragedy. With approximately 110 members drawn from various universities and educational institutions, CFUW Mississauga meets monthly from September through April to coordinate programming, share fellowship, and mobilize resources for advocacy and charitable work. The club welcomes university-educated women graduates, current students, and associate members interested in combining intellectual engagement with practical community service.
