Canadian Federation of University Women Kitchener-Waterloo

The Canadian Federation of University Women Kitchower-Waterloo is a dynamic organization dedicated to advancing education, rights, and opportunities for women through a comprehensive range of programs and community initiatives. Based in Waterloo, ON, CFUW KW serves approximately 200 women of all disciplines and ages who are committed to intellectual growth and meaningful community engagement.

Monthly speaker meetings held September through May feature guest presentations on current, educational, and thought-provoking topics that encourage dialogue and learning. Members participate in over 40 specialized interest groups that facilitate regular gatherings for shared activities, from book clubs and cultural outings to dining and gaming groups, fostering both friendship and intellectual exchange.

CFUW KW's advocacy initiatives empower members to apply their expertise and enthusiasm toward positive social change, with active committees addressing critical issues including housing and homelessness, environmental concerns, aging and long-term care, and support for families affected by FETAL Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. The organization also demonstrates its commitment to education through annual scholarship programs supporting secondary and post-secondary students in the local Waterloo region.

Beyond individual member development, CFUW KW contributes to broader community awareness through innovative projects such as their Micro Gallery for The Canadian Library, which honors Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people.
